Mon top 5 des thés d'automne / My 5 top teas for autumn

_______

Autumn is here and we all need a good cup of tea to warm up. However, there are always thousands - or even millions of different teas and we never know which one to choose, or to buy.

I will give you my 5 favorite teas that will make you happy:

N#5 : Marco Polo from Mariage Frères, it exists in black, green and red tea but I'd advise you to try the red one. It is so smooth (vanilla touch), light but, as we say in French "gourmand", it is a real pleasure!

N#4 : Oolang Blue Green Orange Blossom from Tea by Thé - this tea is great. It is so flavored, light and does not contain much caffeine in it that it transports us thanks to a subtil aroma of orange blossom.

N#3 : Les invités from Betjeman & Barton is a green tea with fresh and sweet notes thanks to rose petals and lychee... I think that many would consider this tea as a summer tea - I understand. But, nothing's better than a tea that would make you brings you in another world especially during this period of the year - no? Additionally, this tea will be highly appreciated by your guests during a Tea Time.

N#2 : 7 parfums from Dammann - you can take a cup of this tea and enjoy it in front of a good movie or just any other occasion as a treat. This tea is marvellous both for tis scent and taste. It is a black tea with apricot, fig, flower petals and bergamot...

N#1 : BB Detox from Kusmi Tea, green tea with grapefruit. This is THE tea to which you have to succumb this autumn. If you feel sad and tired, definitely try this one. Really. I drink this tea all day long and I adore it! (And the packaging is super cute).

Of corse, there are many other teas... A good solution if you don't want caffeine in yours is the decaffeined teas such as the Decaffeined Earl Grey from Kusmi Tea - excellent.

What about you, do you have favorite teas for this autumn?

Houmous / Hummus

Hello everybody,

Today, I'll make you travel... thanks to Hummus.
If you don't like Hummus, I'm sure you'll change your mind - promise!

It's something I didn't really liked a couple of years ago, however, after a trip to Israel and Palestine, I rediscovered Hummus and I fell in love with it (after eating it three times a day for 10 days).

This is a simplified version - so if you want the original one, look it up on the internet ;)

Ingredients for a bowl of hummus:
- a box of chick peas (already cooked 400-500g)
- juice of half a lime
- Tbs of olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- salt
- pepper

In a mixer/blender, pour the chick peas in + the chopped garlic and add the lime juice - mix. Add olive oil and mix again. If you see that it is too thick or if you can't mix it - add some more olive oil (and/or juice).

I didn't put tahini in it, but you can add some if you want (be careful as it is quite strong).
You can add salt and pepper (even though I never do - I think it's tasty enough!)

Pour everything in a bowl, add some olive oil all around it. You can decorate it with come coriander.

Hello everybody!

I imagine you have already tasted my blueberry muffins right? Well here, it's almost the same recipe but with chocolate instead of blueberries.
I LOVE CHOCOLATE. So... I put quite a lot of it in the muffins. For those who are a bit less chocolate-addict, you can put only 150g of dark chocolate.

Ingredients for 12 muffins:
½ cup melted butter
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
½ cup plain yoghurt (Greek style is the best)
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups all-purpose flour
200g dark chocolate

Preheat oven to 360°F (180°C).
Butter a 12-cup muffin tin.
With a whisk, combine melted butter, sugar and eggs in a large bowl.
Stir in yoghurt. Combine flour and baking soda, then stir into the mixture.
Chop the dark chocolate and pour it in.  DO NOT OVERMIX!

Fill muffin tin and bake for 20 minutes until brown.
Eat them while they are still warm - that's the best

Où manger en 2014 à Paris ? / Where to eat in 2014 in Paris?

Restaurants :

Comment y aller ?
226 Rue Rivoli, 75001 Paris
01 42 60 82 00
Métro : Tuileries (Ligne 1)

ATTENTION : Ouvert en semaine de 7h30 à 19h. Ouvert le week-end et jours fériés de 8h30 à 19h.
Site web : http://www.angelina-paris.fr/fr/

A tester d’urgence !

Comment y aller ?
64 Boulevard Haussmann, 75008 Paris

Comment y aller ?

Site web : http://www.berko.fr/

Magasins :

Hello everybody,

It had been over a year now that I have posted the article with places to eat in Paris. This article was really popular so I decided to do it again this year with new addresses!
Since I spent most of my time this academic year in the South of France, I don’t have that many new places to go BUT the ones I have area really nice. And… something new: I will talk to you about two stores where you can by things to eat and/or drink.

Restaurants:
·        Frenchie to go: This restaurant was recommended to me by my Canadian friend and she told me it was really nice. I CONFIRM THIS. The restaurant is tiny but really cute. We sit on stools, order our sandwich and they bring it to us. But, try to come really early, especially during w-end, because from 12:10, there are no longer any free seats! I ordered a pulled pork BBQ sandwich. The bread was super soft with very good meat; there was also a light version of coslaw in it. The downside is that for €10, I would have appreciated a little more meat, because I think we do not really feel it enough (I'm used to BBQ sandwiches with my Texan side). Otherwise the prices are reasonable for the area!
How to get there?
9, rue du Nil 75002 Paris
Métro 3, 4 : Sentier, Réaumur Sébastopol

Opened every day from Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm and from Saturday to Sunday from 9:30am to 5:30pm.

·        Blues BBQ: one of my favorites. My father dreamed for years to find a Texan restaurant in Paris, and I did it: I found it! I also did an article on them - and frankly the quality has not lowered. The meat is just CRAZY. However, vegetarians abstain because ... there is nothing but meat. And it's not super light BUT this is not too fat either! For the price, you have a huge amount of meat!!! You can also ask for extra BBQ sauce (because sometimes there’s not enough BBQ sauce). The owner is adorable, form Texas, and clearly prefers to speak English, so in addition, you can practice your English ;). The prices are also very reasonable!
Formula 12.5 € w-end for a BBQ pulled pork sandwich + fries + coke!

How to get there?
1 rue Sedaine - 75011 Paris
01 48 06 79 53
Metro : Bastille (line 1)

Opened from 6pm to 11pm from Tuesday to Friday, from 1pm to 11pm on Saturdays and from 1pm to 9pm on Sundays

·        Le Reminet: So ... this is my number 1 restaurant, really. I discovered this restaurant bistronomique (bistrot + gastronomique) thanks to my boyfriend’s friend and we went there with several other people. The place is just MAGIC. It's very French, and the food is excellent. Really. I went there 3-4 times in not even 6 months. The prices are quite high, however, you can book a table through The Fork (la fourchette) and it becomes very reasonable! The first time I went there, we had to wait a lot, but they apologized and offered us coffees. For the time after, everything was fast, without putting pressure on us either. For me, the big plus are desserts. They are worthy of great chefs, they have so many flavors, are delicate with good quantities! You can see the two photos. The first is a chocolate dessert with a sponge cake with exotic fruit and aloe vera, aloe vera and exotic fruits sorbets … AMAZING. The second is about citrus with a lemon cake, lemon cream and blood orange sorbet. In short, I can highly recommend it!

Métro : Saint Michel (ligne 4 or RER C)

Opened every day from 12 to 2 :30 pm and from 7pm to 10 :30pm.

·        Cat Café: (and without any cat): as I joined my friend Laura for lunch, she brought me to this coffee place near the Galleries Lafayettes. It’s so cute, design and cozy, it is a joy to be there. And then for lunch or tea with cookies that's great too! The staff is always lovely – and I’m not going to lie, it is particularly pleasing to have this in Paris! The prices are reasonable for the neighborhood; it seems to be in a great little bubble.

Opened Monday to Friday from 11am to 7pm

·        Sushisan: You want to eat Japanese while avoiding Saint Anne and the Japanese restaurants held by Chinese? Go to Sushisan! They make great sushi and maki, but also many other Japanese dishes (I invite you to go on their website to look at it). The staff is very nice as well, and the quantities are quite generous! But most importantly: the fish is FRESH. Go for it!!!

Opened everyday (call them to make sure though) from 11:30am to 2:30pm and from 7pm to 11pm.

·        L’auberge aveyronnaise: I have not tried it yet ... but it will tonight. Many people have told me that this restaurant is really good. The specialty? Aligot, it’s some kind of mashed potatoes with lots of cheese and butter - hmmmm. I cannot wait to try. They also have lots of delicatessen, sausages and also ... very good desserts, all this at a reasonable price. I'll update information about this restaurant once I have tested!

Thés, cafés et gâteaux :

·        Coutume café : Do you want to go for a coffee or a tea in a very trendy place? Well, go to the Custome Cafe. For coffee lovers, this is paradise! For others, there will be enough to be consoled with their list of teas and of course all their cakes. They also have things for lunch and brunch on w-ends, which is apparently quite nice! The staff is not particularly friendly but the atmosphere is really cool, with young families, students, couples, people coming with friends, it's really nice.

How to get there?

01 45 51 50 47
Métro Saint François Xavier (line 13).

Opened every day from 8am to 7pm and on w-ends: from 10am to 7pm.

·        Angelina: this is one of the legendary cafés of Paris, especially with their hot chocolate and pastries. The setting is beautiful; it's also the main reason for people to go there. Dishes and salads are fresh but quantities are quite small for the price. Desserts are sometimes excellent (especially those with chocolate), but sometimes a bit disappointing (those with fruits that are sometimes good but not great). Overall, we go there for the beautiful building, when you need a break near the Louvre. The teas are very good, and they also have small macarons that look delicious!

·        Café Musée Jacquemart André: This coffee is perfect for tea time while being disconnected from the Parisian life. It is a haven of peace. In fact, you enter through the main museum entrance and then you get into a yard which brings you directly to the front of the coffee place- it's sublime. The decor is in accordance with the museum, it's very French / Parisian. The teas are very good (they come from Betjeman and Barton - safe bet) and pastries, are a real treat. I also tried for the first time a Chibouste, it’s an apple cake with Italian meringue on top which is caramelized. I highly recommend it!

·        Café Pouchkine : Are you a fan of macarons? Well, me too. After various scandals concerning La Durée, I wanted to test the Puchkine macarons and I must say they are ... Beautiful, excellent, tasty, gourmet all at once. There is an afternoon tea, with which you have three macarons of your choice. I thought that three was not that much but I was wrong. After the second, I was already full! The macarons are particularly original as for the teas, they are also very good. The only downside is the place. Indeed, the tea room is tiny because it is partly in the Printemps and in part on the terrace. But still, you have to test it!

·        Berko : Cupcakes are so IN. And among many shops in Paris, I went to Berko. Berko is a little heaven filled with sweets. Colorful, full of flavor, in short, many temptations! Personally, I prefer cupcakes with cream cheese topping on them. You also have butter and chocolate toppings. So some cupcakes are better than others, probably because of the cake. Some are moist, others are dry... Anyway, it's always fun to eat them!! They are small, but only with one, you’ll be full!

Stores :

·        Christian de Montaguère: This store is magical. It's like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but with alcohol. You have a quantity (and quality) of awesome alcohol from all around the world even though they are particularly specialized in spirits from South America and the Caribbean: Rum, Cachaça, Whisky ... And there's also some Caribbean food to buy (jams, spices etc ...). In addition, the staff is ADORABLE and advises you really well according to your taste, budget etc ... Do not hesitate for a birthday gift!

·        Marks and Spencers FOOD: M&S FINALLLLY returned to France. And what interested me the most is ... food of course. Because yes, M&S has super good stuff. Besides Hot Cross Buns, Muffins and Scones, they make pastries, cookies etc ... in self-service. And I must say, I love their scones, and especially the cheese ones (0.89 €). And their cookies (€ 1.2 I think) are a awesome too! Many things are expensive, so be careful, but for a couple of stuff like that, it's great!
